Dancik International is acquired by Kerridge Commercial Systems

Mitch Dancik, founder and Chairman of Dancik International, announced today that “Dancik is now part of Kerridge Commercial Systems (KCS), a global leader in ERP software for the distribution and retail markets”. This acquisition strengthens Dancik’s already substantial commitment to the flooring, tile, and stone industries, as together, the two companies will form one of the strongest ERP offerings for distributors and retailers in all home décor and building materials sectors.

Currently KCS offer the market-leading and award-winning K8 ERP system underpinning over 700 corporate customers world-wide, including builders’ merchants, kitchen and bath, electrical distributors and many other distribution/retail verticals.

Going forward, KCS will be promoting the full Dancik product range as well as their K8 system, each targeted at their respective core vertical markets. Dancik’s headquarters in Cary, North Carolina will become the North American headquarters for KCS.

Mitch Dancik, Chairman of Dancik International commented “The acquisition by KCS brings together two great companies with the desire to deliver focused solutions to markets like flooring that require specialized software. The combined resources of the two companies, with four hundred employees, provide a critical mass for us to enhance what we already offer to our customers, while gaining market share through better solutions and better service. We are so very pleased to have found a company with matching values and the same level of ambition.”
Speaking about the acquisition, Ian Bendelow, CEO of KCS commented “This is a key strategic acquisition for us. It immediately gives us presence in the North American market and a platform for growth in this important region. Fundamentally both Dancik and KCS offer customers value via functionally rich solutions, continuous development that is highly responsive to our customers evolving needs, and our people who have deep knowledge of our customer’s vertical market. Dancik and KCS are a great match.”

Dancik International will operate as an independent business unit of KCS and will retain its name, although with a new brand to emphasize the synergy with KCS. Mitch Dancik and the entire Dancik staff will be working alongside the KCS team to ensure the success of the Dancik/KCS integration. Mitch will also continue in his role as Co-president of the Floor Covering B2B Association (www.fcb2b.com). Looking both back and forward Mitch stated “It has been a thirty-year dream come true, to bring high quality ERP software and services to the flooring and tile industry, which can win against any global ERP systems. I want to see my customers grow both in their core markets and adjacent markets. KCS provides the gravitas to achieve that goal. The measure of our success will be the success of our customers and our industry”.

CTDA This Week with Mitch Dancik

Someone You Should Know.

There are many interesting and successful people involved in CTDA. From time to time, we will highlight some of those people in CTDA This Week.

This week: Mitch Dancik, Chairman, Dancik International

We asked Mitch a few questions about himself, his company, CTDA and the industry. Mitch is definitely Someone You Should Know.

What is your background and business experience?

Creating and supporting software systems for tile distributors for 30 years. Our first customer was Virginia Tile Company, and we have been supporting their growth since 1985. I had previously designed inventory and distribution systems for several industries. When I saw the unique aspects of the tile, stone and flooring industries, I decided to devote my career to this industry. Half of all the hard surface flooring (tile, wood, ect.) in North America is handled by our systems at some point in the supply chain.

How long have you been involved in CTDA and what roles have you taken within the organization?

I joined CTDA in the mid to late 1980′s and have been a member ever since. My company is an associate member of CTDA. I have participated primarily in educational activities, including presenting seminars on various computer related topics. I am also co-president of the Floor Covering B2B Association (fcB2B) which is a non-profit organization that promotes the use of technical standards and B2B communication. CTDA is an active member of fcB2B.

What do you see as the greatest challenges facing tile distributors in the next few years?

I am an optimist who thinks that the entrepreneurial spirit of most tile distributors allows CTDA members to thrive amidst the big boxes and national chains. However, I am still concerned that technology is always second on the shopping list to that next container of tile. The generally strong margins of most tile distributors is hiding a weakness, which is that cost structures are too high. Technologically advanced companies have an advantage over most tile distributors, and that advantage will be more pronounced in time.

How are you positioning your company to meet those challenges?

Everyday our goal is to create, instill, and support the systems that will give our customers the technological advantages to win in this marketplace. Many companies take advantage of what we offer, but many do not put the proper emphasis on continually improving their systems and making better use of the systems they already have in place.

What are the greatest benefits your company and/or you personally receive from CTDA?

CTDA serves as a crucial gateway to our community of manufacturers, distributors, and service providers. It is our “go to” destination for making connections and getting educated. We have never missed an annual event.

Dancik Top Fundraiser for LLS’s Light The Night Walk in Raleigh, NC

At Dancik International, we believe that we can make a difference in the world in small meaningful ways. This past October, we participated in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s annual Light The Night Walk in Raleigh, NC. The money that we raise goes directly to fund treatments that save lives for children and adults diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma. We received nearly 100 donations from employees, family, friends, and colleagues. Each donation was matched dollar for dollar by Dancik International. TEAM DANCIK raised over $24,000 and went to the LTN Walk as the top fundraising team out of 200+ corporate teams, ahead of many large corporations, including Cisco, Ernst & Young, Jones Lang LaSalle, Wells Fargo, and Rex Healthcare. We are very proud of our achievement and humbled by generosities of many. For a small company, we have a BIG heart and welcome opportunities to make a difference.
